The University of Washington’s Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science & Engineering (CSE1) opened in 2003 as the main facility for the Computer Science & Engineering Department. Funded through state and private donations, including a major gift from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, the building was designed to support cutting-edge research and collaboration. It features labs, classrooms, and open workspaces. Before its construction, CSE was housed in Sieg Hall. The Allen Center played a key role in UW’s rise as a top-tier computing institution.
