M5, also known as NGC 5904, is one of the oldest globular star clusters in the Milky Way. Located about 24,500 light-years away in the constellation Serpens, it contains more than 100,000 stars packed into a region roughly 165 light-years across. The blue and golden colors representing stars at different stages of their lives. At nearly 13 billion years old, M5 formed during the early history of our galaxy. The small fuzzy object toward the lower right is IC 4537, a distant galaxy far beyond M5.
